Ta' Pinu Basilica,Gozo

Ta' Pinu Basilica in Gozo is a National Shrine to the Blessed Virgin and a place of pilgrimage for the whole of Malta. In June 1883, a woman claimed to have heard the voice of the Virgin Mary speak to her in a small chapel. The site became a place of pilgrimage and reports grew of miraculous healing. The faithful decided to build an elaborate church around the chapel in honour of the Virgin Mary. The work began in 1920 and was completed in 1931. The basilica stands in open countryside 700 meters away from the village of Gharb.
